The Association of Internet Researchers is accepting nominations for the 2026 Nancy Baym Annual Book Award. The award recognizes the best scholarship relating to the social and cultural dimensions of networked media. Eligible books must have been published in the 2025 calendar year. Edited collections are ineligible; the book must explore a single topic and be authored or co-authored as a monograph. Self-nominations are permitted.
Deadline: May 20, 2026
To nominate, email bookaward[at]aoir.org with a nomination letter describing how the book draws on or contributes to scholarship of the AoIR community, along with a digital copy of the book. Hard copies may also be mailed; contact bookaward[at]aoir.org for mailing addresses.
The award recipient will be announced in late August or early September 2026 and will receive a cash prize and an invitation to present at AoIR2026 in Mexico City in November 2026.
